IUCG - FAQ
From IUCG - Internet Users Contributing Group

What are the IUCG relations with the IETF, IAB, and IESG?
The IUCG is a non-WG permanent IETF mailing list. Its members are IETF Internet lead users (also called "@large" Members). They may also participate in every other IETF group/activity.
To quickly obtain a clear and committed understanding of the ways that the IESG and IAB would consider its best way to contribute, the IUCG's founders proceeded through an appeal concerning the way lead users were not feeling very welcome by the IETF and also looked at the best way for them to contribute within or outside the IETF.
- the IESG's response indicated which IETF framework was to be used. This was quickly achieved.
- the IAB's response implied that they desired a concerted competent dialog that kept IETF efficient. As a first consequence, the MLTF, which is interested in the Intersem strata atop the "Intertel"/Internet strata, was united with the IUCG in order to simplify the usage architecture discussion.
Is the Internet PLUS the IUCG architecture?
There is a need to fill the gap between the Internet legacy delivery and the Intersem strata. As indicated above, the IUCG wants to be a serious partner of the IAB when discussing usage architecture. This means that the IUCG will consider and support the documentation of every network architectural framework that is proposed by participating users.
The IUCG works on a multiconsensual basis. This approach should naturally foster coopetition among the propositions as long as they are of equivalent technical and service quality.
What is a usage architecture ?
It is a user way to organize his/her Internet presence that is transparent and neutral to the general Internet architecture. Relational spaces gathering presences sharing the same usage architecture in turn permit the progressive enhancement of the network usage experience and to facilitate its general architectural evolution.
What is the Internet PLUS core concept?
PLUS means parallel layering user systemic. This means that, depending on one's constraints, set users are able to extend the functionality of the network layers, and obtain a wider protocol pile, including built-in features that could otherwise only be recommended and implemented at the user application layer.
What is an SNHN?
In the Internet PLUS lingo, an "SnHn" is a Small Network/Home Network/Stand alone Host. It is, therefore, a lead user Internet presence entity that can be punctually, locally, or globally organized. To keep with Vint Cerf's 'internaut' analogy, it is the user 'netship' or 'internef'.
What are IDv6 and GRIDv6?
IPv6 proposes a response to the need of addresses for the global Internet infrastructure topology. IDv6 proposes a response to the need of addresses for users' SNHN topologies in using the user ID space. GRIDv6 is a Global Region standardization for a part of IDv6 to be standardized.
What is NETIX?
NETIX is the concept of a network interoperating system that ensures direct application interoperability on top of TCP/IP networks.
What is the Intertest?
The intertest is a charter to be respected when using the Internet as its own test-bed. It builds an intertest externet (i.e. an external network look-alike within the Internet itself).
